Functional changes in acid secretion produced by duodenogastric reflux.

چکیده
The effects of duodenal reflux on gastric secretion have been examined in dogs. Acid secretion during pentagastrin stimulation increased by 68% in animals with chronic diversion of duodenal contents into the stomach. This increased acid secretion did not occur when bile alone was diverted into the stomach and could be abolished by vagotomy. The hypersecretion observed with pentagastrin did not occur when histamine was the stimulus, which suggests that it was not due solely to a trophic effect on parietal cells.

Effect of cimetidine on gastric secretion and duodenogastric reflux.
In 19 subjects (four controls, one gastric ulcer and 14 duodenal ulcer) maximal gastric secretion was evoked with histamine 0.13 mumol/kg/h (0.04 mg/kg/h) for two to two and a half hours. A slow intravenous bolus dose of 200 mg cimetidine was given at the beginning of the last hour. Gastric secretion was measured before and after cimetidine administration and expressed both as mean acid output ...

Data on duodenogastric reflux of bile in gastric ulcer are conflicting. We therefore measured intragastric bile acid concentration and its composition from individual bile acids, duodenogastric bile acid reflux rate, gastric emptying rate, and secretion rates of volume and acid in 30 patients with gastric ulcer and in 66 healthy controls, both in the fasting state and after feeding a liquid mea...
متن کاملInhibitory effect of somatostatin on gastric acid secretion and serum gastrin in dogs with and without duodenogastric reflux.
The hypersecretion of gastric acid in response to pentagastrin, caused by duodenal reflux, was tested in dogs. An infusion of 0.25 micrograms/kg/h was found to restore the raised responses seen in the reflux dogs to control levels. Somatostatin was a strong inhibitor of pentagastrin-stimulated acid secretion and of gastrin release, but it was a weak inhibitor of histamine. These studies suggest...
متن کاملHelicobacter pylori may induce bile reflux: link between H pylori and bile induced injury to gastric epithelium.
Helicobacter pylori and duodenogastric reflux are both recognised as playing aetiological roles in chronic gastritis. This study investigated whether H pylori colonisation of the antral mucosa and duodenogastric reflux are independent phenomena or have a causal relationship. Thirty eight patients (15 men, 23 women) aged (mean (SD)) 48 (17) years participated. Each patient underwent gastroscopy....
متن کاملHuman duodenogastric reflux, retroperistalsis, and MMC.
The aim of this study was to determine to what extent human migrating motor complex (MMC)-related secretory phenomena are influenced by a recently discovered period of duodenal retroperistalsis during late phase III. A constant-flow perfusion technique was used to measure gastric appearance of acid, bicarbonate, pepsin, bilirubin, IgA, and duodenally infused [14C]polyethylene glycol (PEG) 4000 ...
